Here's a good internet marketing tip if you are just getting your feet wet in the wonderful world of making money from home: Just Do It!
Okay, so I stole (borrowed) that line from Nike, but you get the idea. Nothing happens until you take that first action step. What is an action step?
Here are a few:
* buy a domain name
* create a web site
* research income programs
* join an affiliate program
* write web site copy
Now don't get me wrong, you'll still have to seek out knowledge whenever you get stumped or need some guidance. To have a successful money making home business, you should never try to go it alone. Never assume you can just "figure it all out by yourself." There are plenty of places where you can find valuable information about making money from home: forums, email newsletters, ebooks and membership sites are all great ways to learn the ropes real quick.
However, that's where some people get stuck. There is a thing called information overload and it can paralyze people with the best of intentions. Some people collect information like squirrels collect nuts. They're all excited when they first get it, then after a while, it sits there on their computer hard drives or bookshelf—unattended and forgotten.
Yet, these procrastinators are excited to obtain that hot new information product or join that internet marketing membership site that everyone's talking about. What for? They aren't gonna do anything with all this information. I guess the mere idea of financial freedom is enough for some people.
Don't let yourself fall into this trap, newbie.
Make a promise to yourself right now that you will set some goals for yourself detailing what exactly it is you want to accomplish online, making money is the obvious one, but then you need to look a little deeper for the motivation that will propel you to take action and keep you constantly on the move.
Here are some common motivations for starting an online business:
* Do you hate your job and want to stay at home and work at your own pace when and where you wish?
* Do you wish to spend more time with your family?
* Do you wish to make enough money to get yourself out of debt?
* Do you wish to move into a new house or drive a new car?
* Do you wish to creatively express yourself?
** Do you wish to finance something you've dreamed of doing for a long time?
If you answered yes to any of the above, that's great. You might also grab a pen and a piece of paper and jot down some additional motivations—remember, it's not just about money. Money in and of itself is not a motivator for most people. I mean, many people dream of winning the lottery and fantasize what their life will be like when they hit the big one, but most never do, and that's the end of their obtaining their dreams. No millions=no dreams. This applies to the online world too. Some have dreams of making lots of money, but give up quickly when they realize they have to actually DO something to earn it.
But that's not going to happen to you, is it?
Now that you have your motivation, you need to come up with a plan of action. What will you do tomorrow, the next day, and the day after that to get yourself one step closer to your ultimate goal?
Hmmm. Are you committed to action, newbie?
Only time (and your efforts) will tell.
