For decades, housewives have used these businesses as a way to earn extra income to supplement the money that their husbands brought home. Now it is a business model for those who simply want to get away from the everyday 9 to 5 office work. The hours are flexible because sellers can work whenever they want to and parents can have a lot more free time with their children.

MLM programs are businesses that have been created ahead of time. When you join, there will already be a list of things to do and different ways that you can begin marketing. You don't have to waste time trying to start from scratch or trying to figure out how to get the job done.

The bad site to MLM is that many people mistake these companies for Ponzi and pyramid schemes. There are many fake companies that scam members by taking their money, and opening up their fraudulent schemes in another city or country.

Using MLM many marketers have lost family and friends whom they have tried to sell too. When joining an MLM program, they will tell you of the warm market. These warm markets are people that you know at work, family or friends and others that you are in contact with on a regular basis. Trying to push these products on people that you know, could ruin friendships. In some cases, MLM workers reported that some people cross the street to get away from them.

Although many work at home business owners have been told not to pay for a job, MLM is one of the companies that will usually require a fee. You will be paying for membership, instruction and sample products to get you started with MLM. This fee can be in the low hundreds or even high in the thousands. Some individuals may not be able to afford it and after this fee has been paid, there are no guarantees that you will do well with the company and marketing.

Multi level marketing has been around for decades and while many have tried the programs, only a few are really successful at it. Before joining, marketers should find what is involved and what they will need to do.
