What is an Affiliate?

Joining an affiliate program is like doing a sales job. The difference is that you do not see your clients personally and you will be pre selling not selling directly to your potential customers. Your salary will be your commission and your sponsor is your employer.

Advantages with being an affiliate:

  • No inventory: You do not have to keep inventory. This means that you do not have to tie up money buying stock or ever have to worry about overstock.

  • No overheads: there are no overheads for warehouses or offices. An affiliate marketing business can be run from the comfort of your home. This also means you have the freedom to choose your own hours and earn as much or as little as you want.

  • No shipping hassles: Your sponsor will handle all the shipping to the customer if you are dealing in hard goods. As is often the case your sponsor will probably be selling digital goods so will handle all the download arrangements. They will also handle any questions the customer may have after buying the product.

How to be a “Super Affiliate:”

  • Have your own website: it is important to have control of your own website as this will allow you better control over your marketing. This will also allow you to effectively pre sell your visitors and get more sales conversions. Besides being original will get you more conversions than using your sponsor’s mirror site.

  • Publish your own newsletter: build your business by having an informative newsletter. People love these and will happily subscribe to your list. This will enable you to capture customers for yourself and build your business list. A newsletter will allow you to build relationships with your subscribers and sell to them. You can sell multiple products to your list.

  • Work multiple affiliate programs: It is important to work more than one affiliate program to make maximum profits. Choose related ones that will all point to the same market. This will allow you to use one promotion for many programs and save you money and time.

  • Find several niche markets: once you have established yourself in one niche market explore another and establish yourself in that. You can continue to duplicate the process until you are working multiple niche markets and making a profit on each one.

  • Use multiple marketing methods: do not just rely on one marketing method. Test each method. Once you have made sure that it is working well, start a new promotion, test it perfect it and start another. Build up as many promotions as you can for maximum exposure.

  • Use your own original ads: it is always wise to use your own original ads. This is because there are usually many affiliates on your sponsor’s team, all using the same ads. The consumer gets tired of seeing the same ads and automatically gets turned away from the sale. A brand new original ad will spark interest and is more likely to produce a sale.
