Affiliate Products That Convert - And How to Know If They Do

Many times we as marketers, are in a big hurry to get to the good stuff. Like promoting and creating our landing pages, getting the squeeze page ready, and advertising. So sometimes we might forget about how important it is that we make the correct decisions when choosing a product or niche.

So the first strategy should involve finding a product that converts. There are many that claim high conversion ratio's, but you cannot take someones word for it, you are gonna have to work a little bit. You'll be happy you did.

What Do You Think?

The merchant says that the product has a x% conversion ratio. But what do you think? You look at the product and there are a few questions you should ask yourself.

1. Market Appeal - Is the product targeted correctly? Is it something that the targeted market is demanding?

2. Longevity - How long has the merchant been in business ? Has it been longer than a few months? This is important, especially when dealing with physical products or services.

3. What do you think? Would you buy it? Sometimes when I am interested in promoting another product, I like to check out products first, before I do market research. Basically, I want to see if something stands out, and that is the first thing I will explain. Its your most important tool as an affiliate.

Its your instinct. When you are looking at a sales page or a product, you BETTER like it. 1 rule of thumb is that, when you read a sales page, you should want to buy it. Pick products that make you feel excited. Because, and I promise, if you don't like it, either will the people that you try to sell it to. Besides , its awfully hard to convince someone to buy something that you wouldn't buy.

Then you can check out what other marketers are saying about it. One thing I have learned about internet marketers, is that they have no problem blasting a product if it let them down. Now, sometimes its hard to tell if someone is praising a product, just to make a sale. But when they say its bad, its bad.

You can find this information out by visiting forums. There are plenty of good ones out there. I recommend affiliate forums and warrior forums. There are about 3-5 other good ones. Simply Google , marketing forums, and you will see the ones that have what you are looking for.

The last thing you can do to find out if the product is converting is to check the real time stats. These are the actual sales numbers for a particular product. Commission Junction, Share a sale, link share provide these stats for all of the affiliates to check out.

Some of the stats to look for are, EPC, which is - 'earnings Per Click'. You probably know this, but EPC is the total amount of money Earned, divided by the number of Clicks. If there were 50 clicks and the total amount made was $75, that would be $1.50 per click. (Which isnt bad as long as the PPC is around $.50-$.75.
