Reaching Your Customers Through the Mail

What better method to do business than to reach out to your client with a postcard flyer. This form of advertising expresses an essential principle behind marketing, of targeting the customer where he is at. Corporations promote themselves so they can reach out to their shoppers, get them interested and get them to patronize their establishment and buy their products. This, in essence is what the method of card advertising accomplishes.

Think about it, how will your potential customer know about you if you don't advertise effectively? How will they know that you have good food, excellent service and great products to offer, if you don't reach out in a way they'll notice.

There are myriads of way to promote your concern, some will promote commerce and some will not. Card mailers are among the most direct and to the point ways of insuring that the shoppers in your community know about you.

These tiny little dynamos do a greater job than their larger relatives wall posters.Why is that?


o They only go out to the recipients you designate, at the time you make up the mailing list.

o You lower your expenses by not advertising in improper places.

o Postcards include sufficient info for the client to know where to reach you if and when they actually want your merchandise or services.


o Your postcard advertisement is less prone to be ignored. Everybody checks out their mail, particularly when they have enough time.

o Advertising mailers specifically reach the potential patron on his own intimate home turf, as opposed to posters which are placed in outdoor public settings.

o Coming as they do in the public mail service, this form of print is more likely to be saved and read,

o Card mailers are printed on thicker paper than flyers and thus durable and liable to last longer. They are printed on relatively thick paper, and may even have a protective coating. Postcards can even be printed on water resistant material if you want to spend the extra money.

o Coming as they do as a square card, with only one side available for print, this form of advertising requires the advertiser to be succinct. Using a minimal amount of text you give your shoppers cause to call or drop by and visit your store in person.

o A little bit of thought devoted to the design and layout of the printed mailer can greatly increase its effectiveness via the impression it will make on the recipient. Careful selection of the design will help you become even more successful in attracting your clients.

You can be confident that if you choose this form of promotion and undertake it diligently that you will get results. Remember, doing business is more than just sitting on your desk and being ready for the client to arrive. You must make the effort.

    Although there were earlier scattered issues, most pioneer cards in today's collections begin with the cards placed on sale at Chicago's Columbian Exposition in May of 1893. These were illustrations on government printed postal cards and privately printed souvenir cards. The government postal cards had the printed 1¢ stamp while the souvenir cards required a 2¢ adhesive postage stamp to be applied to it. Writing was not permitted on the address side of the cards.
