Thrombosed External Hemorrhoids – 4 Prevention Tips For External Thrombosed Hemorrhoid

Posted: Aug 04, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

First of all we should define what a thrombosed external hemorrhoid is. It is a blood clot that is formed in the veins of the external anal tissue. This condition can be very painful and it is sometimes compared to the actual pain a woman goes through during childbirth. In fact almost 50% of pregnant women suffer from such hemorrhoid.

There are many illnesses that can contribute to thrombosed external hemorrhoids but there are also ways to prevent them from ever forming. Here are a few tips to follow to prevent thrombosed external hemorrhoids from developing:

You should always eat healthy and exercise properly. Drink at least 8 full glasses of plain water daily and try to keep enough fiber in your diet. This will cause less strain during bowel movements and provide for a healthy colon.

Try not to take too much time in the bathroom. If you are constipated, it is better to take something for the constipation and wait instead of trying to push while sitting on the toilet; this can only aggravate the colon and cause those external veins to become varicose and swollen, leading to high risk of a thrombosed external hemorrhoid.

Wear the proper clothing and allow that area to breathe properly. Try to wear cotton underpants instead of synthetics that don't allow the air to get through. Do not wear tight clothing that will irritate your private area either. You need clothing that will allow you to move and be comfortable throughout the day.

When cleaning yourself, do not rub too hard with toilet paper, if necessary keep a package of baby wipes in the bathroom to allow you to clean yourself gently thereby minimizing the chance of getting a thrombosed external hemorrhoid. You can find baby wipes in the baby aisle of any department store or grocer.
