Back Pain and How TO Cure It

Posted: Apr 10, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

It's not surprising that 60 to 80 percent of the population suffer with back pain from time to time. The back is made up of 33 vertebra and between each is a disc and the spine is kept upright with several sets of muscles.

There is no blood supply to the discs but they rely on movement to gain nutrients from the blood supply. We have all heard of a slipped disc but in fact discs do not slip they burst and once they have burst there is no putting them back into place. Though back muscles are important for back support one of the major muscle groups that support the back are the abdominal muscles.

Strong  abdominal muscles are of extreme importance and give the back support and help with good posture, alignment of the spine, and  twisting movements. What can go wrong with the back,  with 33 bones, muscles, ligaments all in harmony you can see the answer is quite a lot.

Back pain can be caused by injury such as a vehicle accident  or an injury caused by sport or disease. Accidents to the back are quite common in the working environment, such as lifting heavy weights or twisting movements. Sometimes the back goes into spasm from a sneeze. If your back muscles are poorly aligned and weak your back may spasm at the slightest thing.

Back problems can be made more severe by such things as being overweight, just the day to day walking and lifting and general everyday things can put the back under more stress. If you then add to this list someone who already has back problems the results are exaggerated. Tall people often suffer from back pain they must take care when lifting  and make sure they bend correctly when lifting heavy weights.

This is one of the easyist ways to injure your back. If an object apears to heavy get help lifting it. When carrying heavy shopping put into two bags so that you have an equal amount in each.

Most back pain comes from every day movements not as you may suspect by accidents that are unavoidable. To avoid injury it could be necessary to  take certain measures to stop this happening.

Lifting objects, do not lift heavy goods out of your shopping trolley by bending straight over and lifting. Insead get close to object, bend at the knees while keeping back straight  and head up, then lift.
