Cold Symptoms and How to Deal With Them Effectively

Posted: Nov 26, 2009 |Comments: 0 |

Cold symptoms are typically located in your upper respiratory tract. They generally don’t come with a fever, except a very mild one. Your energy is normally retained, even if you are fed up with your symptoms.

So the typical cold symptoms may include a runny nose, sneezing, a stuffed up feeling (in your head, nose or sinuses), a bit of a headache, restlessness, watering or sore eyes, a blocked nose, a sore throat and a cough.

All these symptoms are located in your head and haven’t travelled down into your lungs. They are also local to that area of your body, rather than being systemic, as a fever would indicate.

A fever is the body’s way of getting rid of a virus, and as long as you are strong enough to withstand one, should never be suppressed with drugs. So you can tell that cold symptoms that occur without a fever, means a mild dose.

Discharges are the body’s way of getting rid of the debris of a fever. They may be inconvenient, but they indicate a healthy dealing with the condition.

A common cold is not, on its own, a good enough reason to take any drastic action, such as suppressive drugs.

But regular colds do indicate that your immune system is low. And that should worry you enough to do something about it.

There are several ways you can build up your immune system, at no extra cost to you.

Eat well. By well, I mean lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. And try to make half raw. Be adventurous. Don’t stick to standard, boring recipes. Try exotic and delicious ones which include masses of raw fruit and vegetables.

Get out into the sun. The sun is vital to your overall health and most people don’t get anywhere near enough exposure to the sun. Just don’t spend hours in the midday sun in summer, unless you’re used to it.

Get plenty of exercise. Do something you love. Preferably in the open and fresh air. If your preferred exercise can only occur at weekends, then do something more mild during the week. But keep it up on a regular basis, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

Having looked at ways to improve your health at no cost, lets look at a couple of inexpensive ways you can send those cold symptoms packing. Incidentally if you do this, you’ll become immune to other viruses and pathogens, not just the common cold.

Get yourself a couple of good, whole food supplements which will top up any deficiencies in your diet. One of the best for all your nutritional needs is blue green algae. And the best vitamin C supplement is acerola cherry or camu camu.

These supplements are plant based and are not processed in any way other than to dry them. This means they remain nutrient dense and in balance - just what your body needs. These supplements are the most easily absorbed and utilised and you can’t overdose on them, as you can with the more common synthetic supplements.

Then buy yourself a homeopathic home prescribing kit which focuses on winter ailments. Homeopathic medicines are wonderful for treating any problem. The key is to learn how to work out which medicine might be the best one for you and your cold symptoms.

For that, a home study course, a book or a regular ezine or magazine may help you to gain a deeper understanding.
