To understand the benefit of using colon cleanses and cleansing products, we must first understand where the problems begin. Since everything we eat ends up in our bowel as toxins, it is important to make smart choices before putting those things in our mouths.
Fiber-rich foods are important. This ingredient has been proven to help in the digestive process, and people are supposed to consume about 25 grams of fiber per day. Unfortunately, we don’t generally meet that goal. Fiber can be obtained easily by eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Drinking plenty of water also is key, as it helps to flush out the system.
Herbal remedies and other methods, such as laxatives and nutritional supplements, have been used to clean the colon. The more natural is better, because chemicals in laxatives can contain side effects or be harsh on the body. The doctor should be consulted before beginning a colon-cleansing procedure.
Colonic fasting is another method - this limits the person to certain foods that are good for the colon and digestion process, and avoids foods high in sugar and excessive fats, that seem to cause the problems in the first place. Fasting also purifies and cleanses the entire body, creating a feeling of general good health overall. Weight loss is a common side effect with the fasting, which generally involves an all-liquid diet. This isn’t the most popular regimen for colon cleansing because most people can’t go for a long period of time without solid foods.
