Herbal drops contain various beneficial oils that can sooth an aching ear. One of the most popular herbs used is Garlic, which has natural antibacterial properties that will help you fight off any infection. First, warm up the bottle of drops in a cup of hot water then tilt you head sideways and add three drops to the infected ear. You can further warm the ear by using a blow dryer set on low for around three minutes and then place a hot wash cloth in a zip lock bag over the ear. Do this three to four times a day.
Heating Pad
Place a regular heating pad underneath your pillowcase and then lie on it for a while.
Tiger Balm
Carefully dab Tiger Balm which is a traditional Chinese heat rub along the outside of the ear canal and on your neck below the aching ear. Then, put a warm wet compress to your ear and take a nap.
Alcohol and Peroxide
Using the ca of the peroxide bottle, mix together a solution that consists of 50% peroxide and 50% alcohol, then pour it into your aching ear. It will start to bubble. Once it stops bubbling, turn your head and let it drain out and then repeat if you think it is necessary. This will not only warm your ear canal, providing relief but should also kill any bacteria that happen to be inside.
Cotton ball and olive oil
Take a cotton ball and dip it into a bowl of warm water and olive oil. Place the ball in the ear for a few seconds then take it out.
Potato steam
Take a potato, cut it in half and then microwave one half of it until it is really hot. Place this hot potato in a wash cloth and then place it over your ear, allowing the potato steam to flow into your infected ear canal. Keep it up until the potato cools.
Sock full of salt
Pour some salt into a pan and then heat over the stove on low heat. Once it is heated, place it in a clean sock. Place the sock over the aching ear and feel the relief after a few minutes.
Heated alcohol
Heat up some alcohol in a cup for about 5 seconds, allow it to cool then gently pour it into your ear canal.
Blow Dryer
Hold your nose and gently blow like you want to pop your ears. Now take a blow dryer, set it on low and point it at your aching ear from a distance.
Alcohol and Vinegar
First, put a few drops of alcohol into your ear, and then add a few drops of white vinegar. Lay down for about ten minutes with your aching ear facing up. Then turn and place your ear downward on a hot b damp towel staying there until the towel cools down. Reheat the towel and repeat the process about four times.
Eat better
A poor diet of processed and overly refined foods causes toxins to build up and turns your body into a bacterial breeding ground. A diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, good proteins, natural oils and healthy whole grains will help you fight off bacteria and illness.
Vitamin supplements
Boost your immune system by taking extra Vitamin A, C, E and zinc. These vitamins and minerals are essential for helping treat and prevent middle ear infections.
