Perhaps the most common problem related to menopause is hot flashes. It seems that the sudden and permanent changes in the body's hormones triggers this symptom, thus resulting in mood swings, head aches and an assortment of other problems.

Usually, treating this problem involves hormone replacement therapy, which obviously involves the use of hormones. However, if you're interested in alternatives, there are plenty of natural menopause treatments which don't involve the use hormone treatments.

A few examples include vitamins, foods, supplements and even exercises. These and many others can help a woman deal with the menopausal symptoms. So if you want to know how they work, here are a few examples of them.

Soy - What makes soy very effective in treating this problem is that it contains natural estrogen. Some of the best soy based products include soy milk, soy protein powder and soy meat replacement. If you haven't tried them before, you want to start adding them into your diet.


Herbal Supplements - What makes menopause natural remedies so popular is Black Cohosh, an herbal mixture which has a good reputation of treating the various related menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes, bloating and constant sweating.

Progesterone - Sometimes, hormone replacement therapy does not end with estrogen. In certain cases, the use of Progesterone cream and supplements may also be necessary to fight of the symptoms of menopause.

Exercise - Aside from helping you stay fit, exercising regularly, for at least 15 to 20 minutes can also help you deal with any hot flashes that you may be experiencing.

Drinking Water - Since Menopause and flashes cause an increase in the body's temperature then it stands to reason that you should try to mitigate its effects by drinking some cool drinks.

Vitamin E - Taking vitamins is always a good thing for the body, but as far as menopause goes, taking Vitamin E is best at reducing the effects of its various symptoms.

Flaxseeds - Various dietitians and nutritionists claim that taking flaxseed can inhibit some of the symptoms of menopause.

Menthol - Using menthol cream can also help reduce the symptoms of Menopause. Rubbing this cream on one's skin can help lower its temperature and thus reducing the intensity of any symptoms that you may be experiencing.

These are a few of the alternatives to hormone treatment that you can try. But of course, as one of the most common afflictions to the fairer sex, your options do not end here. There are plenty of other treatments for menopause and its various symptoms.
