Gall Bladder Treatment

In the right upper quadrant of the abdomen is situated a small pear-shaped organ directly under the liver called the gall bladder. Its principal function is to collect and concentrate the bile that the body uses to digest fats. The very common problems with the gall bladder and biliary system are inflammation of the gall bladder and bile ducts, muscular spasms or poor contraction of the gall bladder wall, stones forming in the gall bladder or bile ducts and obstruction to the free flow of bile. Gall bladder disease becomes more and more common nowadays. We should realize that the causes for this condition are inappropriate diets and bad eating habits. To confirm our affirmation we can say that only in the United States almost 20 percent of the persons that have passed 40 suffer from gall bladder disease. This disease is common in women, persons that have passed 50, people with weight problems, people with high blood cholesterol levels and people with gastrointestinal disorders.

Gall bladder pain is considered to be the most intense symptom of gall bladder disease. Gall bladder pain has a recidivating character and usually occurs after meals. Gall bladder pain can also intensify with physical effort or sudden moves. Pain attacks can last for a few hours and they are usually triggered by the consumption of foods that are rich in fat. A late meal can cause gall bladder pain during the night and many people with acute forms of gall bladder disease (acute cholecystitis) have problems sleeping due to pain episodes. Gall bladder pain occurs in the upper region of the abdomen, but in the case of a pain attack, it can spread to the mid back and under the right shoulder.

The gall bladder disease have the following symptoms indigestion and nausea after eating especially fatty foods, vomiting attacks and pain in the right upper abdomen, which often radiates to the right shoulder and back. Gallstones are formed by the crystals precipitation out of the bile. These gallstones can stay in the gall bladder and cause no symptoms, but when a stone moves the neck of the gall bladder or the common bile duct may be obstruct giving rise to severe pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. Jaundice is caused by the stone in the common bile duct and in this case the skin and the eyes become yellow due to accumulated bile pigment.

Latest medical research shows that the gall bladder pain is not caused only by the blockage with gallstones. Specialists say that the pain symptoms might be for some people the consequence of the intolerance to some foods. Researchers also say that pain attacks can occur as an allergic reaction to foods like eggs, meats with levels of fat, diary products or even citrus fruits. Chocolate, coffee and carbonated soda can cause these pain attacks too. Among the recommended foods that are believed not to be allergenic we have to remember fish, green vegetables and wheat products.
