Nervous Vomiting

This condition frequently occurs without any anatomical lesion of the stomach to account for it. It is reflex in its origin, and most frequently occurs in hysterical women, although there are notable exceptions. Thus seasickness, attended by vomiting, is experienced by the great majority of both men and women who take an ocean voyage.

Vomiting & Nausea

When you are nauseated and feel the urge to vomit, there is almost nothing you can do to stop it. In fact, if you have eaten something foul, it's better not to fight this powerful reflex because the offending food needs to be purged from your system.

Nausea is a very uncomfortable felling which has been described as developing or “coming in the form of waves”; the feeling of nausea is a sudden overwhelming woozy sensation that takes over abruptly.

How Does It Works

The approach to healing with herbal medicine is different in many ways from that of conventional medicine. It aims to work with the body, to gently nudge it into balance rather than attempting to actively tip the scales. For example, in the case of a fever, conventional doctors advise taking drugs such as aspirin or Paracetamol to suppress the temperature.

Home Remedies For Vomitting

As one prone to a middle-of-the-night upset stomach, I think I can help. Besides the ever popular saltines and ginger ale (the saltines help neutralize stomach acid, and the ginger ale helps re-hydrate you while settling your stomach).

Weak tea or herbal tea often help. Slippery elm, ginger, red raspberry, and "Sleepy Time" (brand name) are all teas that are supposed to help. You can also purchase some herbal candies (sometimes called "Pregnancy pops") at health.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale). One study showed that ginger appears to be as effective as the prescription drug metoclopramide (Reglan, Clopra) in reducing the nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum, various species). My wife takes cinnamon tea when she feels nauseated. It helps, and I'm not surprised. Cinnamon contains chemicals called catechins, which help relieve nausea.

Pitta is the fire humor, which often produces (auto-)inflammatory conditions. The cure is to put out the fire via use of herbal purgatives. Bitter herbs are very useful also: dandelion, barberry, oregon grape root.

Ginger Constituents

Volatile oils in ginger are what cause the taste, smell, and medical effectiveness. About 1-4% of ginger is oil. Ginger contains pungent constituents, shogaols and gingerols, which make it effective for relieving vomiting and nausea. Bisabolene and zingiberene are the aromatic constituents of garlic.

Natural Herbs Aide In Vomiting

I heard Ipec is a drug used in hospitals to vomit.Does it work? Are there any natural herbs that aide in vomitting? I am in counseling.I know I still have a lot of work. But I feel so fat and bloated sometimes.
