Chicken Pox is a highly contagious disease that usually occurs in children. For the most part, chicken pox occurs in children ranging from 3-4 years old. The older the child, the worse the attacks seems to occur.
Chicken pox is a common, but very contagious disease. Usually this disease effects children, but adult cases do happen and are then known as shingles. So, what is chicken pox? The illness, medically known as Varicella, is a common viral infection.
Chicken pox is generally known as the children' s disease. Adults can catch chicken pox as well, but only the ones that have not head chicken pox when they were children. Doctors refer to chicken pox as varicella, which is a very contagious medical condition. If you have contact with a person that has chicken pox, it will take about two week for you to get infected as well. This is known as the incubation period of chicken pox. After only a couple of days from infection, a rash will appear on your body. This is the incipient form of chicken pox. Afterwards, the rash turns into blisters, which in turn burst and ultimately scab over. Winter and spring are the most likely season to develop chicken pox.
Causes of Chicken Pox:
Herpes Zoster Virus
Poor immune system
Inhaling airborne droplets
Persistent wrong feeding of children:
Contact with broken chickenpox blisters
Symptoms of Chicken Pox:
Fever.
Decreased appetite
Weakness.
Fatigue.
Mild headache.
Abdominal pain or loss of appetite.
Low-grade fever.
Rash on the upper chest or back.
Cough or runny nose
Itchy rash on the trunk, face, under the armpits, on the upper arms and legs, and inside the mouth
Treatment of Chicken Pox:
1] Take 2 teaspoons each of marigold flowers and witch hazel leaves. Soak them overnight in one cup of water and then use the water to apply on the blisters.
2] Fill your bath tub with cool water and then add a piece of ginger to it. Make the person having chicken pox sit in the bath for around 30 minutes. This home remedy helps to stop the itching.
3] Take a glass of water and add half teaspoon of baking soda. Use a soft sponge to gently sponge the body. Let the water and baking soda mixture dry naturally. Once it dries, it will help alleviate the itching.
4] For fever, drink Catnip tea sweetened with molasses.
5] Apply Vitamin E oil on the scabs and this home remedy will make the scars disappear quickly.
6] Chicken Pox home remedy treatment can be achieved by using Oatmeal. A bath of oatmeal is considered one of the best natural remedies for relieving the itching sensation caused by chicken pox.
7] Chicken Pox home remedy treatment can be achieved by using Brown Vinegar. The use of brown vinegar is known to be one of the most important home remedies for treating chicken pox.
8] Antibiotics for treating bacterial infections.
9] Bedrest.
10] Increased fluid intake (to prevent dehydration).
11] Calamine lotion (to relieve itching).
12] Acetaminophen for fever (DO NOT GIVE ASPIRIN).
