Over the course of the previous two decades great strides have been made in the development of anti aging skin care products. New products have been developed that now have the ability to penetrate the skins surface to the substrate, where newly discovered substances actualy functionn on a cellular level to minimize the adverse symptoms of skin damage that have developed due to aging and sun exposure.
In the past, most all of the skin treatment products that were on the market functioned on the surface to smooth out and moisten skin by using moisturizers and oils such as lanolin. While these products did give some relieve to people who's skin conditions were being exacerbated by dry skin, they actualy didn't have any effect on wrinkles and skin coloration problems.
By studying the actual biological functions of the skin, medical researchers and dermatologists learned the key to stimulating the skins natural functions and this is imparative to the higher level of effectiveness that these new skin care products have. For instance, it was discovered that fine wrinkles on the thin skin of the face that are known as “crows feet” are actualy caused by the thinning of a layer of cells and connective tissue that lies between the dermal and epidermal skin layers.
This area, called the dermal-epidermal junction, can be re inflated by treating the skin with substances that cause this area to thicken with collagen and fluid. While the actual damage can't be repaired, the symptoms of it can be lessened or eliminated by focusing the treatment on this area rather then on the wrinkles themselves.
More and more new skin treatment products are now functioning in the skins substrate on a cellular level to achieve far better results than skin care products of the past.
