Indian Board of Alternative Medicine Highlights

Indian Board of Alternative Medicines (Internationally Recognized Legally Constituted Largest Institution) is one of the largest open international educational academies and a premier institution in the field of alternative / complementary medicine and health promotion duly incorporated under Act XXVI of 1961 (Regd. No. S/68765 of 1991-1992) of the Government of West Bengal based on the Central Government Act XXI of 1860 and the Literary and Scientific Institutions Act of 1854.

About Indian Board of Alternative Medicine Distance Learning

Founded in 1991, Indian Board of Alternative Medicines is a premier institution in the field of alternative and complementary medicines conducting programs in alternative medicine education including holistic nutrition, traditional naturopathy, natural health, oriental and chinese medicine, acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology, bach flower remedies and wellness. The Board is a member of about 70 different organizations and affiliations tied to their mission. These include holistic and natural health agencies, naturopathic boards, herbalists groups, practitioner associations and more.

Indian Board of Alternative Medicines Academic Programs

The Board's programs are built around the principle of alternative medicine that acts as a complementary to modern allopathic medicine. Courses cover topics that range from underlying philosophies to practical applications. Several programs are designed to ready students to become a naturopath, a natural health consultant, or to mesh alternative health approaches into an established healthcare practice.

Admissions

Applicants must have graduated from high school or satisfactory completion of the GED. Home-schooled students will be evaluated through their portfolios. Bachelor's level applicants may be eligible for life and work credit.

Previously earned college credits may be transferable to the school after evaluation. Graduate program applicants are required to submit transcripts validating completion of prerequisite degrees.

Graduation Ceremony and Conferences

International Seminars, Conferences and Award Ceremonies are held regularly.  Besides the numerous stalwarts from the field of alternative medicines, the Board's conferences have come to the attention of international figures and dignitaries from around the world who have been most forthcoming in their praise and support of these events. Prominent amongst those who have expressed their support are the WHO, UNICEF, UNESCO, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the President and Vice-President of India, Government Ministers and international world renowned personalities such as Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, Queen Elizabeth, Rev. Desmond Tutu and UN Secretary Generals. The importance of these occasions is amply reflected by the participation of Mother Teresa, state governors, union and state level ministers, chief justices, judges and diplomats.
