Indian Institute of Alternative Medicines ( www.altmedworld.net ) in affiliation with the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines ( Internationally Recognized Legally Constituted Largest Institution ), duly incorporated under Act XXVI of 1961 of Government of West Bengal, based on the Central Government Act XXI of 1860, Literary & Scientific Institutions Act, 1854 offers a range of distance learning programs in alternative medicine, naturopathy, reiki, oriental medicine and acupuncture, holistic nutrition, acupressure, reflexology and chromotherapy.

Programs can be studied at the following levels:

Diploma

Bachelor

Doctor of Medicine in Alternative Medicine, MD(AM)

Doctor of Naturopathy / Natural Medicine ( ND / NMD )

Doctor of Oriental Medicine ( OMD )

Doctor of Holistic Medicine ( HMD )

Doctor of Philosophy in Alternative Medicine PhD(AM)

Doctor of Science in Alternative Medicine DSc(AM)

International Seminars, Conferences and Award Ceremonies are held regularly.  Besides the numerous stalwarts from the field of alternative medicines, the Board’s conferences have come to the attention of international figures and dignitaries from around the world who have been most forthcoming in their praise and support of these events. Prominent amongst those who have expressed their support are the WHO, UNICEF, UNESCO, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the President and Vice-President of India, Government Ministers and international world renowned personalities such as Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, Queen Elizabeth, Rev. Desmond Tutu and UN Secretary Generals. The importance of these occasions is amply reflected by the participation of Mother Teresa, state governors, union and state level ministers, chief justices, judges and diplomats.

A monthly journal registered under RNI ( Govt. of India ) is also published to disseminate the knowledge and news about alternative medicine.

A number of books have also been published by the Institute on alternative medicine and allied subjects.
