Lybrel: the Best Birth-control Pill

Lybrel is one of the most popular oral contraceptive pills in the world. It is also the first FDA approved birth-control pill that effectively prevents pregnancies in women. This researched oral contraceptive drug has been developed by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. It is the first and only low dose combination contraceptive pill that can be taken 365 days a year, without a placebo phase or pill-free interval. And another point to note is: it’s the only birth control pill that has been designed to eliminate women's monthly periods. Lybrel has taken the market by storm.

This wonder drug which is FDA approved is in fact a great news for women who want or need to safely suppress their menstrual cycle and the plus point is that they have the convenience of a full year’s birth control prescription to do it. Lybrel is a good hormonal birth control option for women who don’t want to have a period every month. It is the first oral contraceptive pill that delivers an uninterrupted supply of hormones.

If you have medical conditions that interact with Lybrel, tell your doctor or pharmacist at once: Some of the conditions:

• If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• If you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• If you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
• If you have a history of endometriosis, growths in the uterus, abnormal mammogram, irregular menstrual periods, a lump in the breast, or fibrocystic breast disease, or if a family member has had breast cancer
• If you have a history of diabetes or high blood sugar, gallbladder problems, migraines or severe or persistent headaches, heart problems, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol or lipid levels, kidney or liver problems, blood or bleeding problems, blood in the urine, mental or mood problems (eg, depression), high blood calcium levels, yellowing of the eyes or skin, pancreas problems, or seizures
• If you have chorea (jerky, involuntary movements of the face, arms, or legs), lupus, porphyria (a certain blood problem), or varicose veins
• If you are overweight, have swelling problems, you have not yet had your first menstrual period, or you smoke or use tobacco

The best way to take lybrel is by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation. Another point to note is that never remove the tablet from the blister packaging until you are ready to take lybrel. Take the pill during first 24 hours of your period, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Certain side-effects might occur after taking the pill like dizziness. It may also increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, blood clots, high blood pressure or similar problems.

To end with it can be said that it is good for women seeking contraceptive options and who are interested in putting their period on hold. Researchers found, in a different study, that three months of taking Lybrel reduced PMS and associated complaints in 114 women. Lybrel is a proven oral contraceptive pill that you can rely upon.
