My Bodytalk Training Experience

For the past fifteen years I have worked in energy healing. New York City is such a mecca for so many different healing modalities, I really can't imagine living anywhere else. One of my most recent interests is body talk. New York City is lucky enough to have its very own facility for this, called The BodyTalk Center. As far as a healing center (New York City-based, at least) I would say that I have learned more that will be applicable to my daily life here than anywhere else I have been. I have also never seen a healing technique that has such a broad range of uses and capacities- it is truly amazing.

I have been lucky enough to be able to study bodytalk; New York City has a number of sports teams that I see as a massage therapist, and my skills as a body worker have only increased as a result of my body talk training. To begin with, I work with the body. With the muscular system, the nervous system, the skeletal system, etc. There are times when my focus is predominately aimed at healing a physical injury, or working with a part of the body that is holding onto tension. Bodytalk has given me a whole new skill set that can be used to bring the body's energy and focus to that one part, helping tissue to regenerate faster and encouraging more blood flow to the area. It allows the body part to "talk" to the rest of the body to have its needs met. I certainly did not have that kind of awareness before my training at The BodyTalk Center.

I have found that the well-rounded system of bringing balance to the body has also helped me work with mental issues, such as psychological blocks, that come up during this type of work. This, in combination with the physical work seems to be a very good combination for maximizing an athlete's performance capabilities. That is only the beginning of how I use bodytalk to help my sports teams. I also use what are known as energy matrices. Sports teams, businesses, even families are all part of energy matrices. These are formed of groups of people whose relationships are all energetically entwined.

As sports are my specialty, I have the most experience there. I use bodytalk to help coaches learn better communication with their teams, something that is essential for them to have in order to really be the most effective leader and teacher that they can be. I also use it to help teams learn to work better together. Synchronicity is something that most sports teams obviously utilize, and something that many fail to work on and practice as a skill. I also use my skills to help new team members assimilate better. It is a change both for the new member as well as the rest of the established team, and the quicker this person learns to fit in as a part of the team, the better everyone will perform.

Exploring the Bodytalk System in New York City
By: Temp | 10/05/2008 | Alternative Medicine
Before the advent of BodyTalk and other modern energy healing methods, the majority of health care systems took a Cartesian approach, focusing on isolated parts rather than the entire bodymind equation. Until recently, it has been largely believed in Western medicine that incorporating all the variables of health into one big picture was impossible. This is because the human mind, even with the help of modern science, was thought to be incapable of thinking on such a comprehensive scale.

Bodytalk and Sports Medicine

The BodyTalk System is one of the most cutting-edge forms of energy healing today. Developed in 1995, it is a combination of reiki, philosophies of advanced yoga, acupuncture, quantum physics, and applied kinesiology. Body Talk employs the body's sense of innate wisdom to help it heal itself. We are all born with this wisdom, but the body's lines of communication are often interrupted by the stresses of everyday life.
