Specificity: This antibody reacts with a 116 kD protein, known as PARP. Proteolysis of PARP to its stable 85 kD fragment is an early marker of apoptosis and is mediated by Caspase (CPP32) protein. PARP uses nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (oxidized form) as a substrate to catalyze the transfer of ADP-ribose to a variety of nuclear acceptors.
