Reflexology Massage: The Alternative Way

Since the ancient times, the Egyptians, the Chinese, and the Japanese have been using a particular therapeutic therapy that involves the application of pressure on the reflex zones of the feet and the hands. It is called reflexology, otherwise known as zone therapy.
The application of this method is based on the principles that the body is divided in to ten lengthwise zones, with each side equally constituting five. Each area, gland, and area of the body is then represented on the feet and the hands. Thus, with proper training, a practitioner is able to detect abnormalities on specific areas of the body by simply feeling the feet or the hands. The practitioner then applies pressure on the areas wherein he detected the irregularities in order to encourage the flow of blood, nutrients, nerve impulses, and energy to the corresponding zone in the body. As a result, the patient is relieved of his illness.
Reflexology massage is believed to alleviate stress as much as boost the energy level. Moreover, many reflexologists attest that the method can actually rid the body of lingering toxins, enhance the health of the organs and the body, as well as aid in weight loss.
The treatment is based on the belief that by balancing the energy in the body, various parts of the body is consequently healed. Primarily, reflexology works by relieving the body of stress. It is use for relaxing tension. And since over 75% of health problems can be related to nervous stress and tension, the pressure applied to the specific zones of the hands and feet stimulates the nerve connected to the corresponding gland, area, or part of the body.
In performing reflexology, only the fingers and hands are used. Also, the use of gadgets, oils or lotions are unnecessary. Some may actually care to ask if there are any side effects in having a reflexology session. The answer is no. Reflexology massage is a therapy focused on normalizing body functions. It is a safe and effective method of improving one's health. In fact, it is claimed that this massage is a remedy for various illnesses related to the skin, digestive system, circulatory system, nervous system, immune system, respiratory system, and joints.
However, just like every other treatments, precaution is strongly advised. Before going on a reflexology session, meals should not be taken an hour before the session, and half an hour after the massage, one should drink art least 500 cubic centimetre of warm water, except fro those who are suffering from heart or kidney disease who should remember to drink a maximum of 150 cubic centimetre of water. Also, pressure should not be applied to the bones.
And for those who are suffering from serious heart and kidney problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, and epilepsy, you should consult you physician about having reflexology sessions. Minor detoxification symptoms may include a slight worsening of the condition or drying of the mouth which likely will pass shortly.
