Pharyngitis is a painful inflammation of the pharynx, and is colloquially referred to as a sore throat. Infection of the tonsils, tonsillitis may occur simultaneously. Many common viruses, and even the viruses that cause mononucleosis (mono) and the flu, can cause a sore throat. Some of the viruses that cause a sore throat can produce blisters in the mouth and throat ("aphthous stomatitis").
Breathing through the mouth can produce throat dryness and soreness.
Antibodics are over perscribed and mostly given out to shut people up. We are hurting our imune systems and stengthinging the bacteria by taking them too often. You will also build up an imunity to antibodics.
The cinnamon has antibacterial properties and cloves deadens pain. They are a perfect combination for sore throats.
Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, either hot or cold according to your preference. Avoid acidic and carbonated drinks that might irritate. Suck on lozenges that contain a mild anesthetic and/or sugarless hard candy that stimulate saliva production.
Try garggling with warm salt water, 1 teaspoon for an 8 ounze glass of water, every 2 hours. Drink warm tea with honey or any assorted flavored teas.
The leaves of the holy basil (tulsi) have also been found beneficial in the treatment of this condition. The water boiled with basil leaves should be taken as a drink and also used as a gargle in sore throat.
Try using grapefruit seed extract (liquid form) to kill whatever bug may have gotten into your throat. You put 10 drops in 6 oz of water and gargle, swallow. Follow it with something strong flavored, like pineapple or grapefruit juice, as is a bit nasty tasting.
Another thing you can do is drink vinegar - 1 teaspoon or so in a glass of apple juice. Vinegar is very healing for viruses and bacteria.
When you eat and drink it probably is giving your body what it needs to fight off the infections. Make sure you're drinking lots of water and eating proteins as these help fuel your body. Taking a tablespoon of honey with a little salt should help kill the bacteria in your throat. Eating oranges (though it might sting) is also good because the vitamin C helps the immune system.
Try not to talk a lot. Try to rest your throat. I would suggest getting a cold or allergy medicine or throat medicine. Also you could suck on a cough drop. If it does not go away by tomorrow I would go to a doctor. Hope you feel better!
