Swimmer's ear is an inflammation of the external ear canal. This condition results in hear loss and pain in ear. Swimmer's ear usually caused due to excess exposure to water. When the ear drenches in water penetrates the water resistant layer and skin become soft and results in wrinkles after staying for long period of time in water. Bacteria and fungus without any harmful effects affect that water-exposed skin but in any case if there is a break in the skin barrier then water can easily slip inside the skin and thus results ‘swimmer's ear'.
Symptoms
If a person is having swimmer's ear he/she may receive itching and pain in ear, in some cases patient have difficulty in hearing, the earwax appears white and soft, patient feels stuffy and heaviness in ear, sharp or shifting pain appears in ear, noises felt as humming sound, yellowish and milky discharge from ear and the most important outer ear looks sore and scaly.
Remedies for swimmer's ear
If you rub alcohol it will help you to evaporate the trapped water from the ear. If a person having mild swimmer ear then it can be treated by putting few drops of white vinegar in both ears. You can repeat the process for three days as per twice a day. It is an effective method to deal with fungal and bacterial infection. Take baby oil and boil it. Now, put this oil in ear after it becomes less hot. Also, put the cotton balls in both the ears, as it will avoid the oil to drain out of the ear.
Tips and suggestions
In most of the cases the main cause of having any ear infection is putting a sharp object in ear. So, you should avoid using sharp objects or putting finger in ear. You should apply some oil before going in to the water, as oil will protect ear from water getting in. The most important thing you should avoid swimming in dirty and polluted water.
