Mumps is a disease caused by a virus that usually spreads through saliva and can infect many parts of the body, especially the parotid salivary glands. These glands, which produce saliva for the mouth, are found toward the back of each cheek, in the area between the ear and jaw. In cases of mumps, these glands typically swell and become painful.

Mumps is an infectious disease where someone is infected by a virus (paramyxovirus) which attacks the salivary glands (parotid glands) in between the ears and jaw, causing swelling of the neck of the top or bottom cheek.

Mumps disease is extremely rare in children less than 2 years because generally they still have or be protected by good anti-bodies. Someone who had suffered from mumps disease, and then he will have lifetime immunity.

The symptoms and signs of mumps are:

1-The first symptoms usually appear 16 to 18 days after exposure. It begins with fever and pain upon opening the mouth
2-About 1/3 of people have no symptoms.
3-Others can have swollen glands (swollen cheeks), headache, fever, and earache.

4-Sore muscles
5-Loss of appetite

Rubella or German measles is a mild, febrile viral disease characterized by a rash and fever. The rash is clinically indistinguishable from those produced by measles, parvovirus B19 and scarlet fever. This highly communicable disease is contagious from about 1 week before and four days after onset of the rash.

Never mind that the United Kingdom Medical Research Council condemned Dr. Wakefield's report. Never mind that other medical researchers from around the globe found fault with his research methods. Never mind that subsequent well-designed statistically significant studies failed to show any link between MMR and autism. These stricken parents had found what they wanted--a reason.

We in the US are so pre-occupied with profit that we prefer treatment to cure. It brings in more money on a consistent basis. But, in spite of all that there are those that dare to challenge the establishment and offer to those who need it the cure for so many diseases.

Currently, there is no specific known cause that is thought to trigger type 1 diabetes in individuals. It is believed that type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition, where the body begins to attack itself, however the reason or the cause is still unknown.

The best way to treat a measles rash is to use a cortisone cream or calamine lotion to relieve itching. Ibuprofen or aspirin may be taken to reduce fever along with plenty of fluids and bed rest. There is no actual cure but it can be prevented with a vaccine. The Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine can be given to children as young a one year.
