The history of the use of medical marijuana

Posted: Mar 12, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

It was in 1972 that Congress determined that marijuana had no accepted medical use. Since then though close to 20 states have legalized the use of marijuana for certain medical uses. In addition to its medical uses, marijuana is a great source of protein for vegans and has been argued to be a super food rich in minerals, nutrients and vitamins.

While still controversial, in the medical field, Dr. Mark Rudderham notes there is a "booming medical marijuana industry is part of a trend toward decriminalization of marijuana use." He noted that many believe concentrated hemp-marijuana oils were the miracle elixirs of the past suppressed by corporate medicine interests.

People say that concentrated hemp oil has been responsible for curing stage four cancers and other diseases that were in advanced stages. It's believed that the "combination of hemp oils cleansing and super nutritive properties (applied topically or orally not smoked) are attributable to its cellular strengthening and renewal characteristics," Rudderham notes. The Cannabis plant has a long history of medical use. Evidence shows that it was used as far back as 2,737 BC.

Marijuana remains the most widely used illegal substance, and because there are many public sector jobs in the law enforcement, courts and larger criminal justice system dependent upon continued criminal treatment of marijuana use.

The business interests of government and its need for revenue, clouds the issue of using marijuana to treat illness and disease.

Slow, but steady progress has been shown, though in the fact that some insurance policies now cover the use of naturopathic doctors. Medical marijuana may be the next step in that progression as naturopathic doctors know and prescribe the use of herbal and botanical – nature-based – medicine.

Medical professionals continue to dispute the actual medicinal value of cannabis, but over the past 50 years, medical research has put forth well-documented information that point to its medicinal benefits. Those symptoms that medical marijuana is said to address are: stimulation of hunger in chemotherapy and AIDS patients, the amelioration of nausea and vomiting. A study released from the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute in 2007 showed that cannaboidiol (made from marijuana/cannabis) might stop the spread of breast cancer. The researchers felt the study supported the fact that medical marijuana provided a non-toxic alternative to chemotherapy.

Medical marijuana can be ingested in one of several ways: smoking, drinking or adding extracts to food, in capsule form or topical or oral administration.

TheOnline Wellness Community's medical and research team believe that in time everyone serious about using herbal marijuana extracts for health purposes will do so by combining concentrated marijuana oil extracts with nutrient dense super food powders to make potent anti-aging elixirs.
