Three Days to Pain Relief

The woman, one hand clutching her lower back, stepped gingerly into the office of Dr. Jason Tirado, a New Jersey doctor recommended by her primary care physician. The pain in her lower back was acute; she could not bend from side to side, could not bend over without feeling as if someone had plunged a knife into her lower back.

She had been taking a muscle relaxant drug, but found that the drug was having a negative effect: her ability to concentrate had diminished, her speech was occasionally slurred, and she was worried that she might become addicted to the drug. That was the last thing she needed. The alternative was back surgery, but she was terrified of going under a knife. Her father had died during surgery, and a friend had a stroke from the incorrect administration of an anesthesia.

Her primary care physician had told her about a procedure performed by Dr. Jason Tirado that was a safe and often effective alternative to back surgery. It is called Manipulation Under Sedation (MUS), during which a patient is given intravenous sedation, put into a twilight state, and has muscles and bones manipulated to a greater extent than would be possible during a non-sedated session with a chiropractor. As a result of three MUS sessions, her back pain vanished, and she returned to a normal life.

MUS is a medically approved technique that permits a doctor to perform deep stretches and spinal manipulations that would be painful without sedation. A typical MUS procedure takes between five and ten minutes. It is a non-invasive procedure that effectively treats chronic and acute neck pain, back pain, joint pain, muscle spasm, shortened muscles, fibrous adhesions, and scar tissue around the spine.

Another patient, Ryan Mendez, had been a passenger when the car he was riding in was involved in a serious collision. A subsequent MRI revealed that Mr. Mendez suffered from three swollen, bulged spinal discs. He found it difficult to bend his back and turn over while sleeping. Unable to find relief from pain and suffering from a lack of mobility, Mr. Mendez sought help from Dr. Tirado. After an initial session of manipulation under sedation and two follow-up visits, Mr. Mendez experienced complete relief from pain, and he now enjoys a life of pain-free full mobility.

"If it were not for Dr. Tirado and his MUS treatment, I would still be suffering, or I would have had to submit to dangerous spinal surgery. I am grateful to him for the ease with which I can now function, and it took only ten minutes!"

Dr. Tirado is not only held in high regard by his former patients, but also by the medical community, which regularly recommends patients to his MUS treatment center. Dr. Tirado, while based in New Jersey, treats patients throughout the country and trains doctors at surgical clinics and hospitals in the techniques of MUS.

"It's truly amazing," said Dr. Tirado, "how many people are frightened of surgery and so prefer our non-invasive and effective method for eliminating chronic and acute pain."

Dr. Tirado is a graduate of the New York Chiropractic College, New Jersey University, and the Levittown Chiropractic Clinic. He is a member of the National Academy of Manipulation Under Anesthesia Physicians, Northern New Jersey Chiropractic Association, and the New Jersey Chiropractic Society.
