Vomiting or vemesis is a biological defense mechanism. It is a reflex activity, which refers to the forceful oral expulsion of stomach contents. The actual function of vomiting is to remove toxic or harmful substances from the body after ingestion.
Mint helps with nausea & vomiting. You can use mint tea or in a pinch melt a peppermint hard candy in hot water. For long term use is sure to add a little milk as it kills the tannins which can cause cancers.
Some of the effective home remedies for vomiting are as follows. Have a cup of ginger tea, eat a mixture of honey and powder of 2 roasted cardamoms, Have a glass of chilled lime juice, Have a mixture of 1 tsp mint juice, 1 tsp lime juice, 1/2 tsp ginger juice and 1 tsp honey. Slowly sip a glass of honey water, Have one tsp onion juice in regular interval, slowly sip a glass of chilled cola, Relax for some time.
Sip some soft drinks. You will lose excessive amounts of fluids when you vomit, so doctors agree that it is very important to replenish your water supply. How you do this is personal choice: Water and sports drinks are most often used to rehydrate, and flat soda is popular, as it also calms your stomach. Whatever you drink, be sure to wait one hour after vomiting before you start sipping.
Take 2 cardamoms and roast them on a dry pan (tava). Powder the cardamoms and thereafter add a tsp of honey in it. Consume it frequently. It serves as a fabulous home remedy for vomiting.
Mix 3tbsp of Lemon Juice with 1 Tbsp of Ginger juice (juice from fresh grated ginger) and have.
Place the tip of your right index finger on the underside of your left wrist, about 1.5 in. (4 cm) from your hand. Acupressure points are very small, so you may need to try this method more than one time.
When there is continued vomiting, you need to make certain that dehydration doesn't occur. (Dehydration is a term used when the body loses so much water that it cans no longer function efficiently.) If allowed to reach a severe degree, it can be serious and life-threatening. To prevent this from happening, make sure your child consumes enough extra fluids to restore what has been lost through throwing up. If she vomits these, notify your pediatrician.
Although adults and adolescents have a larger electrolyte reserve than children, electrolyte imbalance and dehydration may still occur as fluid is lost through vomiting. Severe symptoms and dehydration usually develop as complications of medication use or chronic diseases such as diabetes or kidney failure. But symptoms may occur in healthy people.
Ginger tea will get rid of nausea immediately. It has to be real ginger tea, not ginger flavored. Honey in the tea can help a sore throat from vomiting. If tea is not available, ginger candy or other food containing ginger (like Chinese ginger chicken) will help.
Limejuice is a valuable remedy for vomiting. Take a teaspoon of onion juice every two hours. Heat 2 cardamoms on a dry tava.
