Premenstrual syndrome happens when a woman's body experiences a hormonal imbalance that is caused by certain hormonal changes. These changes could cause the symptoms that greatly affect the woman physically and mentally.

Eating healthy foods is a great treatment for PMS. Blood sugar is known to drop as an effect of PMS. In order to counteract this effect, you should eat vegetables and fruits. You may want to consult a health expert or medical professional about these types of foods.

Complex carbohydrates have shown to reduce the PMS symptoms. Certain foods containing these compounds are effective as treatment for PMS. This type of carbohydrates helps in controlling your sugar level. They also increase serotonin production of our system.

Serotonin helps in making the body more relaxed, relieving one's stress, depression, and other negative emotions that are caused by PMS. Foods like pastas, grain breads, and cereals contain high amounts of these carbohydrates. You could also ingest beans and brown rice, as they are rich in complex carbohydrates.

Certain foods should be avoided so the symptoms of PMS do not worsen. These foods include refined white flour, soft drinks, and others that have high sugar content. In addition, foods that are abundant of saturated fats should be eliminated, if not, reduced, because these fats increases your estrogen level. This effect could worsen the symptoms of PMS. Among the foods containing these fats are dairy products, red meat, and processed foods.

Stress is a major contributor to the symptoms of PMS. No person could possibly eliminate this negative element. However, this could be reduced in various ways. A known method to relieve one's stress is through yoga. This promotes better balance in the system and it greatly calms one mental and physical body.

A healthy diet does not only give relief to the effects of PMS; it also gives many benefits to the whole system as well. Lifestyle is a huge factor affecting the way a person acquires a certain condition like PMS.

But certain foods like the ones mentioned above could work as great treatments for PMS so that the condition can easily be managed and your focus will be redirected from enduring PMS symptoms to getting productive and enjoying the many things in life.
