Ways to Prevent From Urticaria

Urticaria is usually caused by straight contact with an allergenic substance, or an immune reaction to food or some other allergen, but can also appear for other reasons. Urticarial disease is supposed to be caused by the release of histamine and other mediators of inflammation (cytokines) from cells in the skin. This process can be the consequence of an allergic or non-allergic reaction, differing in the eliciting mechanism of histamine release.

As urticaria usually has its origin in the gastro-intestinal tract, the best way to commence the treatment is to adopt an all-fruit diet for about five days. In this regimen, the patient should take three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits such as oranges, apples, pineapples, grapes, pears, peaches, and papayas. The patient should drink a copious amount of hot water.

The homeopathic treatment for Chronic Urticaria is promising. It is much advanced and more scientific as it is not aimed at relieving the symptoms but treat the disease at immunological level. The treatment plans thus designed is addressed towards correcting the immune system, in turn treating Urticaria from within.

Doctors often suggest an all fruit diet for at least five days as the best way to begin treatment for urticaria at home. To follow this, one must take three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits such as oranges, apples, pineapples, grapes, and papaya. He must not forget to drink lots of water along with this to cleanse the system.

Ayurveda believes either or all the humors, when vitiated could cause urticaria. Some of the known situations are taking cold water beverage after taking exercise, or exposing the body to cold when it is hot, infestation with some parasite, mental excitement etc. But, the most probable cause is when pitted vitiates and kaphavayu aggravate.

Using rose water in vinegar helps relieve severe itching in urticaria. Mix about 35 milliliters of rose water with 25 milliliters of vinegar and apply it to the affected parts.

Turmeric is a valuable home remedy with antiseptic properties. Mix 2 teaspoon of turmeric powder in water and take it at regular intervals.

Zime is quite effective in treating any kind of allergy. Half a lime squeezed in a glass of luke wann water and a teaspoon of honey should be taken first thing in the morning for several months. But people allergic to citrus fruits should not resort to this remedy.

After this diet, the patient may embark upon a well-balanced diet consisting of seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables and fruits. The emphasis should be on fresh fruits and raw vegetable salad. A glass of water containing the juice of half a lemon may be taken one hour before each meal and also between meals. The patient should however, avoid tea, coffee, alcohol; all flesh foods, refined foods and all foods which are difficult to digest and instead should drink at least eight glasses of water daily between meals.

Alum and Red Ochre: These two substances are considered valuable in urticaria. An equal quantity of alum and red ochre should be ground together and the powder rubbed on the weals.

Astringents like Cold Witch Hazel, Zinc Oxide and Calamine lotion are some of the home remedies for Urticaria that can be taken off the shelf of the kitchen. Milk of Magnesia being an alkaline solution when applied on the lesions removes the irritation and lessens the sensation. Baking Soda and Corn starch in equal proportions of a cup should be added to warm water tub and then bathed in it for effective results.
