It's important to always consult with your health care provider before determining if a massage will best meet your needs. Massage is a great way to improve circulation, bring the body into balance, improve the Immune System and help promote health and healing. Due to these benefits, there are certain conditions that respond better to massage than others. With the guidance of your physician and under the expertise of a certified and licensed massage therapist, you'll find that massage is a wonderful aid used for treating and improving many conditions.

There is no doubt that stress is successfully treated by massage. There are many different types and branches of massage, yet all of them effectively reduce stress and bring the body into a state of balance, peace, and tranquility. The importance of treating stress should never be undermined as stress left for a long length of time can have serious consequences to your health and well being. Massage is one of the best remedies for those who are seeking to reduce stress.

Those who suffer from joint pain, back pain, or Arthritis will find that therapeutic massage is amazingly beneficial. Again, it is important to discuss your condition with both your health care provider and your massage therapist to make sure that you are using the best treatments for your condition.

Anxiety disorders are also successfully treated with massage therapy. If you suffer from depression, panic attacks, or other anxiety related conditions, you may want to speak with your health care provider about using Reflexology or Shiatsu in your health care regime. Additionally, many people have reported finding great success with using Aromatherapy massage in the treatment of anxiety disorders. It is important to discuss your condition with your massage therapist and determine if he or she has experience treating your specific condition through massage.

Headaches, chronic pain, and insomnia often respond positively to massage therapy. There are different types of headaches and you should discuss the types of headaches that you suffer from with your massage therapist to ensure that he or she chooses the best type of massage for your situation. Stress and tension headaches may respond best to Aromatherapy Massage however a headache that is the result of a pinched nerve may be best treated with deep tissue massage. Your massage therapist is best qualified to determine which type of massage will be of the most benefit so it is important to discuss all of your concerns or questions during your interview. Like headaches, chronic pain may be the result of a number of different causes. It is important to determine the cause of your pain so that your therapist can choose the best course of treatment.

If you are suffering from Insomnia, you may find that massage helps your body to relax so that you are able to sleep again. Sometimes Insomnia is a direct result from underlying stress. Using techniques such as Aromatherapy Massage and Reflexology can help treat Insomnia and bring the body's cycles back in to balance.

Understanding the nature of your health care concerns is vital to determining when massage will be beneficial. Your health care provider is an important tool in locating the underlying cause of your pain and must be incorporated in your approach towards massage. Once your physician or health care provider determines the source of your pain, he or she along with your massage therapist can work in unison to develop the best course of treatment.
