Are ativan and xanax the same?

A: True, both Ativan and Xanax are benzodiazepines. However, they work a little differently. Ativan is made so that it takes longer to start working but it's properties of sedation last much longer than Xanax. It is "stronger" than Xanax in that respect. If you are being treated for anxiety panic disorder, it is helpful because it is long-acting. Especially for those with these types of disorders that interfere with falling asleep and staying asleep without interruptions and trying to fall back asleep.
