It is better to be safer than sorry; report it. I will affect your unemployment insurance; just subtract the difference and that will be your new amount that you will receive each month. To do otherwise puts yourself and family at risk. If you are discovered later; fines, penalties, and worse could be your result. A legitimate way to reduce that "net" gain is to be sure to take every single deduction you are allowed as a home-based business owner. This will reduce your overall taxable income, possibly increasing your refund. I'm sure you know this already, but Keep All Receipts!
