A: Players can be divided into 3 basic ability levels--low-handicaps,mid-handicaps, and high-handicaps. A handicap is the golfer's way of measuring their performance against the par on a course, usually in relation to a par 72 regulation course.

A: The high handicapper usually needs a helping hand with getting the ball airborne and keeping it straight. Look for over sized heads and cavity back models. Wilson Staff do a great set. Or look at hybrid clubs which have taken off recently and do help with both the requirements.
Terms to look for include: improvement clubs, over-sized, hybrid.
Stay away from 'blades' as these are for very good players.
