A: Thermal (heat) energy can be transferred by conduction, convection, radiation and evaporation. Radiation is the fastest of these since the transfer is via electromagnetic waves, from the infra red part of the spectrum. So the simple answer is the speed of light, 300 million metres per second in a vacuum.
