A: The legendary football coach, Vince Lombardi, once said:

"The difference between success and failure is based on the amount of time and preparation you have put into planning for the future."

As the saying goes, "nothing good comes easy", and a successful financial plan requires being proactive and taking these 3 key steps:

1. Reviewing your current plan to know exactly where you stand today
2. Analyze your options so you can fix, replace, or add pieces that make improvements
3. Monitor and review this plan...since the only guarantee you have is that things will change. And these changes require adjustments over time.

Finally, I strongly encourage you to hire a professional financial advisor. I firmly believe that, given the large number of difficult and complicated financial pieces of a comprehensive financial plan, this is far too complicated for a person or family to succeed over time on their own.

I hope this helps.

A: Planning is important as it means you're being proactive with your finances rather than reactive. It ensures that you don't miss any opportunities. It also means that you can set certain financial goals and then put a plan of action in place to achieve your goals. It also helps look at your needs holistically which leads to a well balanced portfolio. Balance is the key to being prepared for any outcome and in today's unpredictable financial world - that is crucial.

Without planning you can feel a little directionless.
