It has long been known that our bodies and hormonal levels deteriorate as we age. Our skin loses its elasticity and our bones starts to weaken over time. Fortunately, we can slow down the effects of aging on our bodies by doing certain changes in our lifestyle - and having regular exercise is one of them. Studies have shown that having regular exercise is actually one of the best ways, if not the best way, to delay the signs of aging. Exercising regularly alongside eating a healthy diet would greatly help not only on improving your fitness level but on your longevity as well. With this, let me share to you some of the best anti aging exercises that you can try.

1. Flexibility exercises. This kind of exercise can help increase your blood circulation which in turn help the brain to release serotonin. Serotonin is a chemical produced by our brains which is good for our overall health. Aside from increasing your blood circulation, flexibility exercises can also help improve your posture and improve your coordination. Yoga is one great example of this kind of exercise. What's good about flexibility exercises is that it is very low maintenance and you don't have to invest in an expensive equipment to get the work done.

2. Strengthening exercises. This kind of exercise can help protect your body from bone mass loss. Aside from improving your bone and muscle strength, strengthening exercises can also help in increasing your hormone production and toughening up your connective tissues. Squats, push ups, lunges and weight lifting are some examples of this kind of exercise.

3. Cardiovascular exercises. Aside from helping you ward off the signs of aging, this heart friendly exercise can also help you maintain your weight. Studies have shown that you need to do cardio exercises for at least fifteen to twenty minutes to be able to achieve good results. Running, brisk walking, dancing and sports such as basketball, tennis, badminton and football are some examples of this exercise.

There is actually no particular time of the day when exercise is more effective. Most people often prefer exercising in the morning to jumpstart their day, while some prefer exercising in the afternoon to avoid the risk of injuries. It really doesn't matter what time of the day you exercise as long as you do it regularly and properly. It is very important to stay active no matter how busy your schedules are to be able to stay and look healthy and young for a long long time.
