There are variety of skin problems that are helped by facial chemical peels, which includes wrinkles, fine lines, acne, uneven pigmentation and scars left by acne.

Chemical Peels

There are sometime imperfections in the outer layer of your skin like melasma and fine lines. An acid solution is used by chemical peels to remove these outer layers of your skin. You can try one of the many types of chemical peels available in the market that vary depending on acid concentration and acid type. If you are looking for mild facial chemical peels, then opt for those that have salicylic acid along with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). When you use trichloroacetic acid or TCA in your chemical peel, there can be varied results depending on how much strong the acid concentration is. Phenol solution is generally used in strong facial chemical peels. It may crate a great improvement on your skin, but often these strong chemical peels have serious side effects and risks.

Fine Lines

When we age, the supporting components that give our skin its suppleness, elasticity and smoothness, start to deteriorate. These include collagen fibers, elastic fibers as well as hyaluronic acid. That is why your skin becomes thinner, stiffer and you see fine lines on them. Bad habits like smoking or careless overexposure to sunlight can speed up this process. So the first rule of getting rid of those fine lines is using sunscreen lotions and creams to avoid sun damage. You should also change your lifestyle to a healthy one which includes giving up smoking. Along with facial chemical peels, there are other treatments that are also helpful like laser resurfacing, Botox fillers, exfoliation and microdermabrasion.

Melasma

Those age spots or brown spots you see in your face are called melasma. It is a type of skin discoloration and people who have it generally show dark patches as well as spots on cheeks, forehead, nose and upper lip. One thing you should know about this problem is that, it is totally cosmetic problem and there is no health issues involved with it. When the skin becomes too much exposed to sum, the hormone responsible for pigment production is stimulated and you start showing dark patched in skin. To prevent the worsening of this problem, make sure you start using sunscreens as soon as possible. Facial chemical peels treat this problem well; as do other treatments with products like tretinoin, topical creams, laser, and azelaic acid.

Chemical Peels for Fine Lines

If you have fine lines, the facial chemical peels that can help you, though with little result, are milder ones like TCA peels and peels with salicylic acid. For longer results of one to three years, you can try AHA peels which are also a kind of mild peel. If you get a TCA peel with higher concentration, you may see better results than an AHA peel. But it has higher risks and you will need to recoup for a longer period of time. The result will however is guaranteed to be longer than AHA peels. If you want the best and long lasting peel to remove fine lines, you have to go for phenol peels. The problem with these peels is that possible cardiac risks are one side effect as is a long recovery time.

Chemical Peels for Melasma

Mild peels such as salicylic acid peels and AHA facial chemical peels are good to show improvement in melasma problem. Low concentrated TCA peels will have moderate improvement whereas its higher versions or phenol peels will give you much better results. But do take into consideration the lower risk factor as well as recovery time that are associated with milder chemical peels. You may have to however, repeat them to keep up the appearance of your skin.

As we get older, the subcutaneous layer of fat in our skin diminishes. This leaves in the skin to sag and get baggy. In our mid thirties, the results of this become very noticeable.Regular facial exercises create a workout for the muscles in the face and neck which enlarge the underlying muscles, due to better blood flow and increased muscle fiber. This mimics the appearance of this subcutaneous fat layer. The face now appears fuller, younger. Wrinkles and lines disappear or fade.
