How To Look Young When You Aren't Young

Posted: Mar 31, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

In this article today I'm going to talk about several tips, tricks, and tactics that just about anybody can use to help look very young even if you aren't young at all.

Most people just sort of accept the fact that as we age we start to look older and older as time goes on, but the fact of the matter is that there is absolutely nothing forcing us to look old if we don't want to. Looking old is a result solely of our actions and our lifestyles. There are many ways to turn your life around and get back that healthy youthful looking body no matter how old you are. I've seen people who are 80 years old turn back the clock 20 years and that's what I'd like to talk about in this article today.

Depending on how old you are and how bad you look you will probably focus on different areas in your anti aging adventure. Younger people, who I will label as 45 to 65 years old who look old before their time can turn around by focusing mainly on their diet and secondarily on their exercise routine. Older senior citizen type people, who I will consider as anybody over 65 years old can turn around their aging process primarily by focus on exercising first and diet second.

But what to focus on when it comes to diet and exercise? That is the question.

Exercise is quite simple to explain. As our bodies get older we naturally lose muscle mass. This loss of muscle mass can lead not only to aging prematurely but can also lead to an increase in the risk of many different diseases and conditions.

The solution is simple and merely involves creating a weightlifting exercise regime. You should lift weights for least 30 minutes a day 3 to 5 times a week. Start out with three days a week and move up from there. You should not engage in any weightlifting without the help and supervision of a trained professional in the form of a physical therapist or personal trainer that you can find at most gyms. The older you are the more important weightlifting becomes.

When it comes to diet, the name of the game is free radicals and antioxidants. Free radicals merge with other molecules in our body through a process called oxidation that burns up our bodies and wears us out.

To combat this you should focus on a diet filled with foods that contain antioxidants. For the most part foods that contain antioxidants tend to be fresh fruits and vegetables as well is whole grains and anything you can do to increase those types of foods in your diet is beneficial. At the same time you should reduce free radical producing foods such as most meats as well as fast food and processed foods and even some baked goods, especially the preprocessed kinds.

When it comes right down to it these two things alone, diet and exercise are all that most people need to completely reverse the signs of aging in their bodies no matter how old they are. The fact of the matter is it's never too late to start, so what are you waiting for?
