Stem Cells are a topic that has brought back a very old fight: the fight between science and religion. On one hand, pro life activist say that using stem cells is murdering a innocent life. This is because most stem cells are found in embryos and the umbilical cord. On the other hand, scientist have had these embryos donated to them, or have found other ways to obtain these stem cells. These stem cells are not just from using an actual embryo anymore, using just the fluid or blood that surrounds the embryo is a big find, using the embryos of other beings (like a mouse), or the biggest discovery for science using plant life to gain stem cell. What I am talking about is the fact that using the core of a rare Swiss apple has been proven to provide scientist with another option for gathering stem cells. Amazing huh?
With the use of stem cells in our corner, we can begin the road to truly developing cures to some of our biggest adversities. These are cancer, and multiple sclerosis, and many other ailments that have developed over the centuries. Also, being used in skin care is another positive coming from stem cell use. The reason these little cells are so important is because they are what are called un-programmed cells. They become whatever they are around. The best example of what stem cells can do is seen through skin care; literally. Erasing scars, lines, or wrinkles from the face by either producing more collagen (for wrinkles/lines) or repairing broken tissue (for scars). Science takes over from here, in my opinion. They are working on a new world for us as humans, a world where we are almost free of illness, and aging would never be a problem. Stem cells seem to be the start to this fantasy of mine, and I hope to see this come true in my lifetime on this earth. If not, I have hope for the future.
