Anyone interested in Medieval Swords and weaponry Should Know This

Hey guys!!! I'm really glad to be writing this post. As you know the last weeks I have been writing about humorous tips that you can use when buying your swords or any other collectible you really like.

Well today I want to be a little bit more serious. Yeahhh I agree with you, most of the info we find on the Internet is boring or useless and that's why humorous info seems to be better and that is not the thing, the thing is that we, swords collector also need to know real facts about what we are buying, you will that a sword collector that knows nothing about medieval times is just a sword buyer.

That's why I want to share with you some info about what we collect, at the end we are not collecting a nice piece of metal, but we are collecting a nice piece of metal with come kind of representative history behind it .

History is written through the eyes of the winners.

That is particularly true. When we think about medieval times we believe that knights were some kind of heroes that were very important when the battle begun. It is true they were important in battle but at the end battling was not as important in war as winning.
What???? What does that means??? It means that knights are in come way overrated. Sorry I was disappointed too…

Imagine you are on the battle of Arsuf . You are noble member of the cavalry of Richard the 1st back in 1191. After days of battle you and your army, finally win the battle against Saladin.  Who do you think is going to write history??? The vassals or nobles??? The ordinary foot soldier or you the knight, the noble???

Wars in the middle ages were not only fought in battlefields. Actually, many battles won by knights were not conclusive. War was fought to win lands and during medieval times you could only win lands by conquering cities and castles. So the siege battles were more important than the battlefield battles.

In fact one of the most useful techniques was to destroy and burn. Knights, archers and foot soldiers use to destroy and burn their enemies' lands to diminish their enemies' power, reputation and economical power.

At the end it is not about the real importance of knights war, it is about history and what we can collect. I don't imagine my self collecting siege weapons in my backyard JAJAJAJAJAJAJA, but it is important as Medieval Sword collectors to know about swords history.
