MEDIEVAL SWORDS

In Medieval times dragons were feared because some would tell fictional stories about children coming up missing. As time passed and many people came up missing more and more would now believe such stories until Knighthood finally came into play. And there was no better way to become a hero than to save a country from a fire breathing dragon. Knights to some in medieval times were the best warriors known men of courage and valor.
The Knights swords were usually made from a mild steel (low carbon steel). Many surviving medieval swords have some form of engraving, such as a prayer, or the sword owner's name. The sword was decorated depending on its owner's wealth, with some of the more fancy ones encrusted with jewels and fine engravings.

NINJA SWORDS

Samurai often named their swords, in a dedication of devotion. They believed that their warrior spirit was contained within their swords. They dedicated their lives to the combat arts of Bujutsu. Ninja Swords were different from Samurai swords because they were not passed down from generation to generation. Most Ninja swords were disposable multi purpose tools. Modern blades are more superior to the poorly constructed blades in the days of the ninja warrior. The samurai swords (katanas) are longer and of different quality. Katanas were very long and usually beautifully made. The samurai held a high degree of respect for the spirit of the sword. The ninja used their swords for whatever was necessary at the moment.

The scabbard of a ninja sword often worked as a club, underwater snorkel or other handy tool. Their swords were of far inferior quality to the modern reproduction blades that we have today. Each clan had their own style of sword fighting, and their own type of swords. Some ninja clans did possess high quality swords, in the style of the Japanese Samurai Sword (katana).
