Man always had this peculiar fad of collecting old items, such as show pieces, ornamental object,

and everyday use stuff. He collected and assembled the legacy of such items, which his ancestors

passed on to him. These items ranged from anything to everything. Be it a wooden furniture, consisting of

old chair and tables, or a timepiece gifted by father, or the grandmother’s sweet and lovely jewelry box.

 

These articles have their meaning and significance in many ways. Primarily, because it’s the legacy left by the ancestors, which is ageless and priceless in itself. And because of their eye-catching ability. The exquisiteness and art, age and rarity, has always made such object and articles a “hub of attraction” in every era.

 

Beauty, be it of any kind or thing has made men, their slaves ever since, after money. Once, he is obsessed with the craze of antiques world, there’s no looking back. “Old is gold” cliché fits rightly in this case. The older the better.

 

This is being done even today. Both, individually and in museums, on the superior scale. Antiques belonging to diverse places and times are assembled and preserved and conserved in these museums in every division of the world.

 

Populaces all over the world, endeavor to collect and conserve these classical masterpieces. Some acquire it naturally, As a part of the legacy, from their ancestors and grannies. But there is also, no dearth of people who pursue, this, i.e. collecting ancient items as their hobby or sometime even as a profession. Antique collection today, is seen more of a leisure and pastime than a result of legacy

 

One may find different of kinds of antiques proprietors. Some collect as and when they find such items.

They don’t specifically collect anything in particular, but gather miscellaneous stuff from where ever they

could seek and stumble on. They are mostly and usually travelers. They buy these pieces casually once or twice,

which goes on, to become their full or half time or even their only pastime.

 

But many people, especially men, are inclined towards collecting one or the other thing. They are usually

fond of gathering and collecting one or more thing in particular. It may range from collection of a simple thing

such as coins to huge and expensive things like vintage cars and furniture; Be it wooden and metal furniture. Both are equally impressive and expensive and most hunted stuff.

 

Archeologists help in seeking and searching ancients stuffs from copious civilizations. Such as Harrappa and

Many more. These items consists of daily use items such as, utensils, vases, kettle, mirrors, timepieces, jars, pots etc to children’s plaything like, clay dolls or puppets, wooden carts and toys, to stone jewelry and jewelry boxes etc

These items besides being antiques are also useful in research and study of ancient civilization.

 

Antique collection has now, almost become professions in some countries. People make auction of their collection and bid it to get the best and maximum turnover out of it. Antiques lovers are reached far and wide and so are its museums. People around the orb and from all sphere life, flock to see and enjoy and admire the beauty, strength and pain gone it creation of such antiques. Antiques have and will always be one of much loved hobby or leisure and pastime for the time to come.

I have purchased a pottery plate I believe to be from JApan.  The pottery is dark grayish brown and the flowers painted on it are dark blue,  The plate has a scalloped edge as well as a painted scalloped edge.  There are four Japanese marks on the back of it. From this brief description can anyone tell me what I may have?
