It's a crisp morning, the sun has not even broken the horizon to warm the foliage the crunches beneath your feet. You hear a small animal scurry away as you make your way to set up your ambush. There is a cool breeze blowing in your face. You think to yourself, "the conditions are perfect, I won't be detected. You are finally at your point of arrival. You slowly climb to your stand and secure your weapon. It may be a long wait be fore your target arrives, but you know you are well prepared to make the first shot count.

This may sound like the beginning of a war moving describing a sniper preparing for the shot. In reality this is a description of a hunter methodically making his way to his tree stand on opening day of archery season. This is a special day for those of us that have been raised in the excitement and skill of the sport. I would consider a craft, an art form, if you will. I am going to discuss the main tool of this art.


It's getting close to that time of year to start thinking of bow hunting. It amazes me as the fall draws closer that you can start to get that "felling" For those of you that are hunter will know what I am talking about. Every year comes new challenges such as finding a good spot, preparing your equipment, getting time off from work, etc.

For those of you that are in the market for a cheap compound bow, or are looking for a cheap compound bow for a beginner need to shop a round. Just because a compound bow maybe label cheap does not always mean low quality. You can find bargains on quality compound bow if you know where to look. You can always check your local dealers, but chance is you are not going to find what you are looking for. Where does a person look then?

If you were to search the web you would come up with a lot of choices, too many in some cases. Now you have the opposite problem then you had in the first. There are so many different sites that seem to offer good deals, but which one should you use. There are a lot of big names I could mention, but sometimes with big names come big prices. The reason for this is because these big sites know that most people are going to go to them because of their popularity so why worry about price?
