A Comprehensive Guide To Green Screen Studio

Posted: Apr 08, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

A green screening is a process of digitally superimposing any desired graphic at the background of the subject. The background is either green or blue in color. The green color is mainly used by the photographers. This shade is farthest from the human skin tone and a digital camera is also sensitive to this shade. This process is also called Chroma Keying. It requires a set up or a studio which can be set up or prepared with ease.

How to prepare a Chroma Key Studio?

A photographer can prepare the studio by keeping a few points in mind. You can make arrangements for the lights as these are the most essential prerequisite of any kind of photography. Then you can stick a blue or green color wall paper or cloth on the walls of the studio or the room. Many people prefer choosing green shade as this shade is the farthest from the skin tone of the humans. A green shade makes the masking of the background easy and convenient. A digital camera also has image sensors which are sensitive to specific shades. These image sensors in the digital camera are sensitive to green shade. Other shade such as blue is less beneficial as it is the most common color found in the shades of the clothes of men and woman. Check whether your lighting system is up-to-date or not as you should have three point lighting system. In this kind of system, a photographer can use key light to illuminate the subject and the background. The fill light is used to fill up or remove the shadows from the face or clothes of the subject. The third one is back light which lights the background of the subject. Place the subject at some distance from the green screen background. After photographing the subject, you can digitally replace the background of the subject by any other desirable image.

In this way, you can create attractive pictures using this technique in an effective manner. A person can make the subject appear a dwarf or a giant. You can even cover the face of the subject with green color cloth and make him appear invisible in the picture or video. You can create many pictures with this technique.
