Paradigmatic sets and syntagmatic grouping play very significant role in the creation of any memorial. The main aim of the designer of the monument is to choose different objects to include them in the syntagmatic organization of the memorial. For example, the number of historical objects was set below the sculpture to make this subject of war more reasonable. As for the memorial “The Nurse and Soldier” this number of objects includes the letters and photos of war soldiers. Moreover, the author of the memorial placed the gun next to the soldier in order to show better the danger and war situation that the soldiers had to bear. The main theme of this memorial is war, showing the wounded soldier, gun and army nurse. It is found within the Anzac Square. This square is the evident homage to the theme of war. The organizer is absolutely not pleasure, as there is not anything good in war, even if somebody would come across pleasant moments while reading and studying about the war. A lot of creators of the memorials may think that the “spatiality” is the main thing, but really it is not of the first importance, as the viewer does not share much of the same place as the memorial. As for the temporality, it is also not main organizer. The site is not short-term; it is a constant prompt of the war events.

To sum everything up, it should be mentioned, that a monument, which is shown on the picture or in photo is efficient as war memorial not only because it evokes thoughts of national self-importance and reality, but also gives people an opportunity to express their opinion. The main aim of good memorial is not only evoking certain feelings, but also connecting reality with the past and between people and the site. Paradigmatic sets and syntagmatic selection are used to implement feelings which one gets from the monument.
