If you want to make an outfit more interesting, then there's no better way to do it by adding up a couple of accessories or two. It is important to make sure that accessories compliment your outfit, except of course if what you really wanted was to let the accessory shine and be seen from the sidelines.
It's easy to wear neutral colors so you don't make fashion mistakes but it becomes boring after sometime. So here are a few ways where you can add a dash of color to your otherwise boring and dull outfit.
Play With Colors in Little Ways
Maybe the reason why you are having problems with fashion is because you take it too seriously. There is really no pin-point all-guide book to fashion and most of the time, we learn it through experience. We realize what looks good and what doesn't, through experimenting with new styles, new colors and new textures. Consider this next project as something fun and a great way for you to discover more styles that suit you.
A little bit of jewelry gives your outfit the needed boost and a little interest. Consider the impact that you want to achieve. If you want it big and flashy, then consider having chunky beaded necklaces or huge bangles. Just remember to downplay everything else, by wearing another jewelry, so if you are wearing chunky beaded necklaces then try to just wear a simple, rubber wristwatch in black or neutral colors. You could also wear a pin or a brooch to give your outfit instant glam.
Also consider the time of the day and the event that you are going to. Big chunky beaded necklaces might be good on a night out with friends but it is inappropriate when you wear it at your friend's kiddie's party. Just make sure that you consider the impact of the accessory you are wearing and as always, depend on common sense when choosing.
Belts are also in fashion these days and make it very easy to go from plain to glam in a minute. Wear big thick belts around your waist to clinch it and give you more of a figure. You could also wear skinny belts with your jeans to add a little more color and fun to your usual plain outfit. If you are not sure with colors, then the best thing to do is introduce it in little ways and wearing colored belts is one of the best things to do.
If you want to play more with colors, then try wearing a fun, colorful pair of socks instead of just the usual white or black. Just make sure that it is appropriate for you wouldn't want to get caught in an office meeting wearing elmo socks now, would you?
Finally, experiment with your hair, after all, it is your crowning glory. Deviate from the usual ponytail and add cute hair clips with a little dash of color or add a button clip in front of your ponytail to give it an updated look. Always ask yourself if there are still ways to improve an outfit.
