Apart from the painstaking challenges, assortment of players and outdoor scenery, one thing that got the viewers hooked with Survivor: Fiji was the connivances and backstabbing issues that surrounded the participants. This was especially the case for Edgardo Rivera, the 10th Survivor eliminated on the competitive reality program. In an interview with BuddyTV, he shared his sentiments on his Survivor experience.
Rivera, a 28-year old native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, got his education at the Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. While studying, he became engrossed with tennis and became a member of the Davis Cup National Team. At present, he works as a regional account and planning supervisor.
Rivera’s inclusion on Survivor: Fiji was not really intentional, although he was a fan that considered the show as the most genuine reality program, compared to other shows that were partially scripted. His friend was actually the one that applied but was unfortunately rejected. Upon his friend’s recommendation and submitted application of Rivera, Rivera got a call and went through a meticulous casting process.
As far as his elimination is concerned, he really felt disappointed with the outcome, getting forced in a manipulated situation, influenced by Dreamz and prompted by Mookie’s revelation of the immunity idol. But if things went according to plan, they would have picked Alex to get voted off, consequently eliminating Cassandra because of Alex’s immunity.
In the end, Rivera was glad that he had hindsight of nearly everything that went on during his inclusion, which was contrary to what Survivor had projected. He was actually nervous about seeing himself on screen since he did not know what to expect. At any rate, he deemed his Survivor experience as something very memorable.
To catch more alliances formed, not to mention more backstabbing action, watch Survivor: Fiji every Thursdays 8 PM ET/PT on CBS.
