In 1928 Bruins played for the Stanley Cup but lost to Ottawa Senators. The 1929 season saw their first Stanley Cup win against the New York Rangers.

Coached by Art Ross, the Bruins became one of the strongest team in the 1930’s. Eddie Shore, Tiny Thompson and Aubrey “Dit” Clapper were the top players in the team. Art Ross is known to have taken hockey to a higher level. He introduced beveled–edge pucks and fiber guards to protect the Achilles tendons. He was the first coach to put up his goaltender for an extra sixth skater. In 1939 in a seven game series the Bruins defeated the New York Rangers to enter the Stanley Cup finals and win it against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 1941 season saw another Stanley Cup win by Bruins against the Detroit Red Wings. Milt Schmidt and Bill Cowley were the top players in the 1940’s.The following decade saw the rise of this original NHL team. The Boston Bruins tickets sold like hot cakes, with each game giving the hockey fans some memorable moments.

1959-1966 saw a downward plunge for the Bruins. In 1966- 67 seasons Harry Sinden took over the team. This followed the rise of their defenseman Bobby Orr. He won the rookie of the year trophy in 1966-67 and played for 11 seasons in NHL. The Bruins won their next Stanley Cup in 1970 under the guidance of Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito. Bobby Orr scored the winning goal flying past St. Louis Blues defenseman Noel Picard. Boston Bruins tickets sale was on a roll following their win. In 1971-72 season Bobby Orr became the first player to win the second Conn Smythe Trophy after he scored the winning goal against the Rangers in the Stanley Cup finals. In 1980 the Bruins won their fourth Stanley Cup against the Edmonton Oilers with Ray Bourque as the defenseman. They won the President’s Cup in 1983 and 1990 and made to the Stanley Cup finals in 1988 and 1990. Cam Neely and Joe Thornton were important players in 1990’s.
