How To Become A Martial Arts Movie Star

With the resurgence of martial arts and fighting films like the recent Ninja Assassin, Fighter and even Sherlock Holmes you might be thinking that you would also love to have a career in movies as an action star or martial arts movie star. Of course like any other acting career you can't expect it to be easy and fall in your lap over night. As a wise man once said 'those things that are worth having are worth working for'. And obviously we have all heard the hardship stories of those aspiring actors who have taken off the Hollywood in the expectation they will become instant stars and end up homeless and hungry, or at least washing dishes. But by no means should you give up on your dreams if this is something you would really love to pursue.

So how to you get to be a martial arts star, and how do you go about it without taking off for Hollywood with nothing but hope in your pocket. Well if you look at the careers and life stories of some of the most famous actors you know that will give you a better insight. Many of their stories, like those of Jet Li and Bruce Lee show that first they became extremely good at their martial arts and won recognition for that first before moving into acting. This is backed up by the advice of other movie stars and their blogs and websites. For example if you are a director and you want to hire someone to do a martial arts movie, who are you going to choose? The best right! So the first step must absolutely be too perfect your skills as a fighter and martial artist. Additionally it is interesting to read that many action stars these days are often trained in several arts or fighting styles not just one. So all you MMA fans out there are probably already on the right path. Compete in as many competitions as you can and make sure you get noticed for your abilities.

You might be asking yourself a couple of questions. First, "how do I get hired for a martial arts movie"? Secondly, "what if I am good at martial arts but am not a good of an actor"? Well first your goal can just be so good you can be 'head hunted' by those making these movies. If you haven't been in acting classes, then picking up as many as you can will help. But history generally shows that more martial arts stars have gotten where they are by being great martial artists first, not great actors, then learning to fight. There are also plenty of agencies out there, go have your pictures taken and get your information to as many of them as you can. They get paid if you get paid, so it is in their best interest to be out there working hard to find you acting jobs while you focus on your training.
