Fashion is always changing thus it is really very difficult to cope with the trend and latest fashion style. One thing could be in fashion right now and the next day, it is out the window. This is the fashion world and sometimes we just end up buying clothes that we only get to wear once or twice. We don't really get the most value for our money and we sometimes end up with a messy, disorganized closet.
Thus, it is very important to differentiate fad from fashion, what is current or classic and what is just a trend that would not stay. The best thing for you to do now is find pieces that are timeless and would never go out of fashion. Here are a few tips that could help you in your search for timeless and classic pieces.
Qualities to Look For
When looking for clothes that would really give you your money's worth, one of the first things to consider is color. Try to stick to neutral colors like black, white and beige. Consider the little black dress as an example. Every girl must have a little black dress in her closet. A black dress is easy to dress up and dress down just by adding a colorful sweater, a bright big belt or a soft, sheer shawl. Plus, black never goes out of style and is always in fashion.
The Color
What changes is the material that is the "in thing". Right now, it could be velvet or satin and the next it could change to lace and cotton. What is important to remember is to try to pick out a gown that fits you and compliments your figure. Clothes in neutral colors are easy to update and just a little dash of color or an accessory that is in fashion would update the look and make it seem modern.
After checking out the color, you also have to check out the style. Stick to classic and simple styles. It could be a versatile piece like a white button down shirt. You can use this as a cover up for your tank tops and pair it with jeans for a more casual look. You could also opt to dress it up by wearing a bold, big belt and pair it with tailored pants.
The Material
Next, consider the material of the piece. Some materials are seasonal like velvet and corduroy. Stay with neutral materials that you could wear for any season and keep away from corduroy and linen. Stick to shirts and blouses with a hint of lace or made of satin or cotton, these materials are more neutral.
Look for bags with clean lines and as much as possible stick to solid colors. Plaids may be in season right now and a lot bags in plaid are coming out. Soon enough it will fade and you will just find yourself with so many plaid bags you don't know what to do with. A handbag in black is always appropriate so better get one for yourself.
Learn to distinguish what is fashion and what is fad. Though things are changing, there are some essentials that continue to be timeless.
